a painterly quilt ~ with silks acrylic

happy morning!

i had a great time this past weekend, and our montana weather was sooo so so perfect.  still mornings, warm 70 degree temps, and getting to do something that's been on my creative 'to-do' list for a long time, actually.  finally ~ i got to painting on white cotton fabric with these gorgeous acrylic paints - silks.  made by the makers of h2o's watercolor paints, luminarte.  you can view them in more detail on their website:  dreamingcolor.com/what-are-silks.

what are silks?  they are semi-gloss glaze acrylic paints.  not just for fabric, they go on paper, canvas, terra cotta, and a multitude of other surfaces.  they are silky-smooth, and shiny!  lots of depth of color, and so easily blendable.  i am learning that after i paint, it's fun to spritz with water, which moves the paint, and creates multi-colored effects as the design edges soften and other colors appear too!  i just love how they sparkle on the white cotton fabric. love love!

the results:

 and of course... where there is one... there are more!
{and more inspiration}
i will post the finished quilted piece tomorrow.
thanks for stoppin' in on my painterly summer day!
blessings on your day!

This is just beautiful! I didn't realize I could paint on fabric with the Silks. I took a course last year on using them on paper with Dion Dior. Did you mix them with any textile medium?
I've gots lots. Now I'm going to have to try it!

I bought a Gelli plate to try to print fabric but have been afraid to use it. I know. These are beautiful colors and your painting is luscious! Do you heat set the paint after drying it? I can't seem to find any info on that. Thanks and keep up the great inspiration!

Your painting looks fabulous. I am not much of a painter but I will definitely pass on your comments about these paints to my daughter.
