FearLess Peerless ~

All I can really say is wow!  So far, this is my most favorite watercolor product!  These are known as "Peerless" watercolors, and I got to order a special set labeled "Joanne colors" when I enrolled in Joanne Sharpe's COLOR LOVE class.

This product comes loaded dry, onto pieces of paper!  Hard, cardstock-like paper.  Amazing product.  See more about it here. This is a product that has been around a very long time, originally used to tint black and white photographs!  {I have some of those pictures of me as a baby ~ I should find them!}
Bright, beautiful, clear and completely transparent, and also they are a fun, totally mixable color with a fabulous palette of colors to choose from.

I don't care for the drawing above... just messing around, really, because I love using this product.  It is good to PLAY!  Who knows, maybe by the time I add somethin' here or there... a drawing, stencil, paint or doodle ~ maybe i will like it better?

And a color chart.  Always good to have as a resource.

The photo below wasn't made using the Peerless watercolors, but my Derwent watercolor pencils, drawn and colored below.  I have always loved aspen trees!  And it's one of my favorite landscapes to create... I'm so looking forward to learning more, and what I shall add to this, if anything ... we shall see!
I'm not totally lovin' it yet ~ but it's a place to start.  And one must start... somewhere!

I'm filling up my watercolor journal!  It's been GRAND!

Hope you're filled to the brim with beginnings.  {you're never too old - I can safely say!} It's all about attitude. Do you have new or old beginnings to share?

in the meantime ~~~Just Begin!

Der Went My Sunflower ~

Sorry about the title {not really} ... bad pun ~ I have  a wacky sense of humor...  lol.
So this is my sunflower doodle and using my Derwent Inktense watercolors, which was part of the excercise in Joanne Sharpe's COLOR LOVE class. She did hers with Tombow markers, but I don't have any of those, so I played with what I had.  And I had a great time! Have I told you lately how much I love this class??!
I like the white accents, which I added with a pen, as I forgot to leave some areas white on the page.  I get carried away with the fun of it all. I added shadowing, too... and bits of little details with my black Pitt Pen.  This is one of the ways I use to think... be grateful... pray... meditate... and be more inspired.

As you may know, all day long, sunflowers follow the sun, turning their faces so to speak, to face the sun.  I like to do my best to do that, too ~ just make that "SON" instead of "Sun."  and it's nothing 'new under the sun' but more importantly, to me, it's a timeless, never-ending, reminder, of the One who is full of love and mercy. And I'm so grateful for a Savior who is my Sonshine!

"Keep your face to the sunshine
and you cannot see the shadow."
Helen Keller

Cultivate ~

More playing with the Inktense watercolors, with Joanne Sharpe showing us how to layer with stencils n ' such.  This is just my quick mini-version of the lovely and beautiful exercise Joanne created for us to do... I hope to get some time to go back and do it again... but in the meantime, love this spray stuff - Dylusions this was called, in a golden yellow.  It came in my kit from Christy Tomlinson's Scarlet Lime Store, and so it was fun to have this spray and stencil handy to use for Joanne's fabulous ColorLove class!
And our beautiful little cottage garden is blooming and coming into it's own... as we have been weeding, pruning, thinning... laboriously!  {but in JOY!}
And it is looking so nice... {the garden that is}
Until... the canine version of thinning plants came to our yard.  Those were my full box of beets.  Also the carrots got dug up too... although this pic doesn't show that cuz that just happened yesterday!
The black and white 'thing' came along.
The WTBC.
Wild Thing Border Collie in the GARDEN~BAD Dog.  Bad!
Who can resist fresh soil? Not this one.  And so who needs to thin out plants?
Not us.

Not... anymore.

Georgia.  Begging to get into the garden, now that she has been LOCKED out.

What's can ya do but sit back, and say "Georgia."
Georgia did it.
{Glad I planted extra}

Splish ~ Splash !

My newest art supply - Derwent Inktense Water Soluble Pencils!

And they are really, well, intense color.  Easy to use, and ... fabulous!
 What I really like best is their versatility, whether drawing with them, then adding water, or mixing the colors after drawing, or not!This is just the small set, which I bought at Michaels with my 40% coupon.  I'd like to see how they work on fabric, next.

Fabulously colorful ~ and I splashed the tip of the pencil with the tip of my watercolor brush, and I was just a splishin' and a splashin' and having a good ol' time!
And I got to learn SO MUCH MORE about them from Joanne Sharpe's blog, and Joanne Sharpe's Online Class "ColorLove 101!"  (Sorry the link before didn't work - it should go to her blog, "Whimspirations" now~)
I've seen them on  the 'net ~ heard about them.
Never used em...
Til now!  Thanks Joanne, for showing the cool ways to use them!  It's been a really amazing class, and I'm looking forward to catching up, and viewing the rest of the classes she has posted.  I'm okay with being behind... cuz it's a 'forever' kind of class.  My favorite kind!  I believe you can still sign up for it...TAKE IT!

Now I'm singing with my splishin' and a splashin' !!! {Sing the rest of the tune with me!!!}

Stay COOL!
Hugs and more,

The Art of Joanne Sharpe -- Whimspirations

This talented lady--- Ms. Joanne Sharpe has a terrific, upbeat, kind of flamboyant style I really admire! I find it not only beautiful, but I adore the handwriting and words in her artwork.  I only happened to discover her as I was browsing the classes and dreaming of attending the CREATE retreat.  And so that is how I discovered her! A good way to describe her art is the title of one of the classes she is teaching:
"Color Blast Buffet" Art Journals (6 hours)
Date: Wednesday, May 18 Time: 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Technique: Art Journaling/Book Making
Instructor: Joanne Sharpe
Price: $145.00
Materials Fee: $15.00
This retreat is sponsored by Quilting Arts.  I so wish I could go!  I wanted to know more about her so I searched and found her BLOG.  The COLOR she uses... grabs me by the heart!  The style... is absolutely sparkling.  And the whole piece makes my heart sing!  The first picture is one of her latest... and my most favorite so far.  Amazing texture. Terrific words.

Enough talk!
On to the ART!

Joanne was kind enough to give me permission to put her art on the blog and ... admire!
Thank you Joanne for your friendship in 'blog-land' and more. And for the sharing of the talent God has so clearly and divinely placed within you!

And the "masterpiece piece" (as I call it), below, inspires me to remember that my work life at the court is to be a masterpiece as well.  Giving my best there is to the glory of God, (which I need reminding of often!) as He is the great Masterpiece-maker!

And she makes some pretty amazing stamps that hold great appeal to me, personally. Check them out here on her blog!
I asked Joanne where we could find and buy her art and she informed me she will be opening up an Etsy shop at the end of April for artwork and prints!  I can't wait!  She tells me you can also order her stamps at Ellen Hutson.com
I am so excited for her!
AND... you can "like" her on facebook here, too!  That way you won't have to miss any... fabulous inspiration!  I hope you will take a minute or two or three!
I sure hope you enjoyed her beautiful creations!
