Thoughts of Christmas

Thank you, thank you -- you all touched me greatly with your sweet comments on our little Aiden!  I'm still looking at his pictures... we are truly smitten--no surprise, huh?!  Hopefully the kids will come visit us soon!  And his mom said she could use some more flannel bunting type blankets... so guess what I'm going to do!  And maybe he'll need a Christmas stocking...?!

In the meantime, here are some of the smaller projects I've been playing with:
I love to attach my beads free motion style, usually without a foot, but you can use a free motion foot, make sure your feed dogs are down, set a zig zag for the width you desire to go into the bead hole, and then to the side of the bead... and go for it!  I really use this technique alot.
These pin's edges are couched with yarn, using a free motion zig zag, as the yarns are twisted and sew on.
The pins feature a base of black fabric, painted with Lumiere fabric paints, embellished with angelina, beads, ribbons, free motion threadplay, and fusible web that I painted. I cut them out in various odd shapes - (some not so odd I hope).
They are about 2" in size, give or take.
New linoleum stamps I've been carving for Christmas cards.  Is it that time already?  Well, perhaps not... but in the world of sewing... it's time to kick it into gear!

What projects are you planning?
EnJOY your day!

Jamaican Me Crazy With Stampin'!

What Can I Say?  Summer is ending SO fast.  It was only 44 degrees at 6:30 am, and this afternoon, a fabric-stampin' perfect at 70-75 degrees and I'm the John Wayne of fabric stamping... 'hell-bent for leather'---so to speak!
Very excited with the colors and the pattern on this one!  Kind of "Jamaican" inspired. It was a piece of hand painted material from last summer... and it was rather neon, but perfect in my opinion, for this printing. I can't wait to quilt it!
I asked my hubby to come outside and photograph so I wouldn't have to take off my gloves, or get paint on the camera.  Clematis vine on the left; sunflowers on the right!
Now this print below, with my new 'Mum's The Word' stamp is in a colorway I adore!  Rusty-oranges, turquoise blue, and emerald greens!

To get a good print, it's really helpful to have a soft surface to press into... but not too soft, so the print doesn't blur.  This is a piece of packing material I re-purposed.  You can find 'foam' for stamping in the craft store... but I imagine they are at least $10.  This was free! And better yet, it works great.

Thanks for stopping by the blog!  I will be showing some new brands  of paint I'm trying, and some hints and tips for fabric printing.  Also...  there will be a Give-A-Way to celebrate the "Harvest of Summer!" Although I haven't decided exactly what the prize (or prizes), may be ... if you have a suggestion, feel free to mention it!  In the meantime, have a MarveLes day!

CREATE!

Oh Summer Days!  How I love to get outside and start playing with dyeing, stamping, and fabric paints!
And so anxious to give my newly cut linoleum blocks a stamping session!

Using the 'easy cut' linoleum is the only way.  I tried the other 'battleship gray' type, and oh my... it was too hard to cut.  Lesson learned. I ordered mine from Dick Blick art supply company.

Happy summer play days! Love it!  I love our north-facing patio, shaded by our lovely apple tree, and an umbrella when needed.  I began printing my blocks using Golden brand paints, and Liquitex soft body paints.
I used fabrics I had previously dyed and/or hand-painted.
Postcards... patchwork... art quilts nd more ideas spring to life on the patio!  I love working outside, where I have such convenient exercise to a water hose, and lots of space.
I hope you are blessed to enjoy a wonderful summer day (or two!).  I know I am!  EnJOY!
